The criminal legal system needs judges who are willing to find better ways to address low level non-violent crime in our community. Doing things the way we have always done – arresting and incarcerating repeatedly – can only be expected to produce the same results.
For 8 years, I have worked tirelessly to find real solutions to help lift people out of crime and protect our community. I have revitalized Seattle’s Mental Health Court and created a new Community Court. I believe that our community is safer when people are closely connected to the social safety net and can receive housing, mental health, and drug addiction treatment – but they must also have intense case management to ensure accountability and a positive path to healthier lives.Read more about the Community Court here
I believe that this is the way forward for Seattle, but there is much more work to be done. I look forward to another four years as a Seattle Municipal Court Judge, and between now and November, I hope to hear from voters who love Seattle as much as my family and I do. Tell me about your vision for this great city.
I hope you will take a few moments to read about the work I have done so far and what remains to be done. Thank you for the trust you have placed in me.
